June Updates

Celebrations, Conclusions, & Welcomes
For many, June is a time of conclusions and celebrations. Here at the Center for Faithful Business, we’re excited to celebrate several milestones. We’re also excited to welcome scholars from around the world to Seattle. Here’s a look at upcoming celebrations at the Center for Faithful Business:
Celebrating SBGE Graduates
Alongside proud friends and family members, we are celebrating the most recent class of graduates at the School of Business, Government, and Economics at Seattle Pacific University. While we’re proud of all this year’s SBGE graduates, we’re especially proud of senior Nicole Baker, who has been supporting the Center’s social media and marketing work for the last two academic years. Stay tuned for a reflection from Nicole on her time at SPU/SBGE, and the Center for Faithful Business.
Faith & Co Films: Season 5 Wrapping in Ghana
Next week, our Faith & Co. film crew travels to Ghana to begin production on our latest Faith & Co project and our concluding Season 5 film. This season of Faith & Co films has covered a variety of topics through the lens of faithful investing: from the story of Collab Capital, a faith-driven investment fund in Atlanta, to the story of Welden Field, a real-estate development firm in Birmingham. These are stories of investors who have chosen to disrupt the status quo with their commitment to investing in ways that align with God’s in-breaking Kingdom. Our concluding Season 5 film will feature the work of a women owned company that is doing garment manufacturing in Ghana.
Welcoming Pollard Scholars to Seattle
This June, the Center for Faithfull Business will welcome another cohort of Pollard Scholars to Seattle Pacific University for a one-week research intensive and interactive learning opportunity. Each year, the CFB invites scholars and practitioners from around the world to apply for the Bill Pollard Faith & Business Research Fellowship. This year’s cohort represents a variety of international and domestic scholars and practitioners, from the UK and Toronto to Pennsylvania, California, and the Pacific Northwest, all united in their interests to learn from former ServiceMaster CEO and Board Chairman Bill Pollard’s work on the topics of faith and work. The Pollard papers, housed in the Work & Faith Collection at SPU’s Ames Library, will inform these scholars’ work as they craft innovative research papers on contemporary issues of faithful work. We invite you to get to know more about this year’s esteemed cohort of Pollard Scholars.
In this season of celebrations and conclusions, we are excited for a variety of meaningful, generative, and faithful work on the horizon. We look forward to sharing more with you soon!
